What Your Support Helps Fund
FHIR at Will is open source, but building, hosting, and maintaining it requires ongoing time and infrastructure.
Sponsorship helps us invest in the parts of the project that make FHIR at Will more useful and accessible to the community.
More models in the Playground
We want the Playground to let people experiment with different models and compare how they perform when converting clinical narratives into FHIR.
Running and evaluating these models requires compute and API usage, which can become expensive as we add more options. Sponsorship helps us keep expanding the range of models available to try.
An Open API
We want developers to be able to try FHIR at Will without having to set up the entire project locally.
Part of the funding will go toward running an open API that the community can use for experimentation, prototyping, and learning.
An Open MCP Server
We are also working toward providing an open MCP server that allows healthcare agents to use FHIR at Will as a tool for constructing FHIR resources deterministically.
The goal is to make it easier for AI agents to interact with structured healthcare data while keeping the actual FHIR construction grounded in explicit rules and validation rather than relying entirely on free-form generation.
Development and Maintenance
Sponsorship also supports the ongoing work required to keep the project healthy:
- Adding support for more FHIR resources and use cases
- Improving terminology handling and validation
- Fixing bugs and responding to issues
- Improving documentation and examples
- Testing across models and FHIR scenarios
- Maintaining the infrastructure behind the project
The aim is to keep the core project open source while making the surrounding infrastructure increasingly useful to developers, researchers, and anyone experimenting with AI and healthcare interoperability.
